Why were these eLearning examples chosen?
These eLearning examples were chosen on three criteria: variety, results, and craft. Together they cover animation, live action, interactive video, 360-degree environments, and AI-assisted production across associations, healthcare, nonprofits, and technology. Most have documented outcomes, and each one shows a design decision other teams can learn from and reuse.
Our full library holds hundreds of videos. This page is the short list we would show a learning leader with ten minutes to spare. Several of these projects belong to the body of work behind Ninja Tropic’s Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards and ASAE Power of Association Awards. Featured examples and what makes each one work
Each featured example below names the client, the problem, the format, and the design choice that made it work. Read them as short case notes: the goal is not to admire the visuals but to see which decisions you could borrow for your own audience, topic, and budget.
EmPRO: “Unmasking Shame.” EmPRO, an insurer focused on physicians, needed to help physicians recognize and manage shame in clinical settings. We built a CME-accredited course combining SME-led video, custom animation, and scenario-based microlearning. Over 1,600 physicians completed it, with confidence up 15 to 18 percentage points across nine competencies. Read the EmPRO case study.
HPNA: POLARIS. The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association faced a national shortage of trained clinicians and outdated, static learning. POLARIS delivers short, scenario-based modules with CE credits for RNs and APRNs on mobile and desktop. Over 930 learners engaged in the first four months, and 96% of APRNs reported meeting the objectives. See the HPNA case study.
OCP Academy. The Open Compute Project needed to make complex data center specifications accessible to a global workforce. We turned static documentation into cinematic video and interactive diagrams. The Academy reached thousands of learners in six months through organic community engagement. See the OCP Academy case study.
We Mean Business Coalition. Small and medium-sized businesses rarely have sustainability teams or time for dense climate courses. We co-developed four multilingual, mobile-friendly, story-driven courses for entertainment-sector suppliers, with knowledge checks and downloadable tools. The program drew 900+ enrollments from 65+ countries. See the We Mean Business case study.
American Rental Association: safety training. ARA wanted to move beyond traditional safety videos. We built a Level 3 Storyline series featuring animated versions of the association’s own subject matter experts, with practical activities embedded directly in the video. Members learn from peers they recognize, and they practice the safety decision inside the lesson instead of watching passively.
USA Swimming: leadership training. USA Swimming needed to preserve and share the knowledge of legendary coaches. We built interactive leadership videos in Storyline 360 around interviews with iconic coaches, so their experience could reach clubs nationwide. The coaches’ own stories carry the credibility; the interactivity keeps learners thinking about how they would apply each lesson with their own athletes.
The Wonderful Company: driver safety in Fiji. Generic safety videos would not resonate with Fijian employees. We built an immersive Storyline series with animated avatars of actual employees and used AI voice cloning through ElevenLabs to reproduce authentic Fijian voices.
Autodesk: product knowledge. Autodesk’s sales team needed to explain complex software without becoming technical experts. We created an animated microlearning series with Autodesk’s own SMEs as characters, plus a virtual gallery of interactive 360-degree images and gamified activities.
Association engagement roundup. This compilation shows five association examples designed to lift engagement and completion by respecting members’ time instead of adding more courses. It is a useful starting point if you are making the case for microlearning to an education committee.
360-degree learning city. Our Storyline tutorial shows how to build a clickable, Street View-style learning hub with hotspots, tooltips, layered microlearning moments, and progress tracking. Explore the 360 learning city experiment.
Synthesia patient education. We built a post-surgical bruising patient education video in Synthesia and compared it with a motion graphics version of the same topic, showing where AI presenters help and where design still matters. Defining learning outcomes, scripting for an AI presenter, and storyboarding still came first. Our AI video for patient education experiment extends the comparison to more tools.
What patterns do the best eLearning examples share?
The best eLearning examples share a few patterns: they put real experts or real employees on screen, they turn information into decisions through scenarios, and they fit the format to the learner’s context. They are short enough to finish in one sitting and built for mobile, desktop, or both from the start.
| Pattern | Where you see it |
|---|---|
| Real experts or employees as characters | ARA, Autodesk, The Wonderful Company, USA Swimming |
| Scenario-based practice | EmPRO, HPNA |
| Interactivity inside the video | ARA, Autodesk, 360 learning city |
| Localization for a specific audience | The Wonderful Company, We Mean Business Coalition |
| Documented results | EmPRO, HPNA, OCP Academy, We Mean Business Coalition |
Notice what is missing: none of these succeed because of length or flashy effects alone. Each starts with a clear audience and one problem to solve. For more detail on the tools behind them, see our Articulate Storyline examples and interactive video examples.
How often is the showcase updated?
The showcase is curated by hand and rotated quarterly. Each quarter we review new client work and experiments, add pieces that raise the bar on variety, results, or craft, and move earlier picks to their industry, format, and tool pages. Nothing is removed from the library; it simply moves to a new home.
If you want to see everything as it is published, including experiments still in progress, the latest microlearning examples page lists new videos newest first. Full write-ups of the projects with the strongest data live in our microlearning case studies.
What makes an eLearning example one of the best?
The best eLearning examples solve a specific performance problem for a defined audience, use a format that fits the content, and show evidence that they worked. Polish matters, but results matter more. We look for clear objectives, realistic scenarios, practice built into the experience, and outcomes such as completion, confidence gains, or reach that the client can document.
Are these real client projects or demos?
Most are real client projects that Ninja Tropic produced for organizations such as HPNA, EmPRO, the American Rental Association, USA Swimming, Autodesk, and The Wonderful Company. A few are internal builds and experiments, such as the 360-degree learning city and the Synthesia patient education walkthrough, included because they show techniques teams can reuse.
How often does the showcase change?
We rotate the featured selection quarterly. Each review adds new work that meets the same standard of variety, results, and craft, and moves earlier picks to their industry, format, and tool pages so they stay easy to find. For a running list of everything recently published, visit the latest examples page.
Which authoring tools were used to build these examples?
Many of the interactive examples were built in Articulate Storyline 360, including the ARA, USA Swimming, Autodesk, and Wonderful Company projects. USA Swimming University also uses Articulate Rise. Other examples combine motion graphics, live action, and AI tools such as ElevenLabs for voiceover and Synthesia for presenter-led patient education video.
Can I get a similar example built for my organization?
Yes. Every example here started with a client's specific audience and problem, not a template. Share your learners, the behavior you want to change, and any existing content, and we can recommend a format, interactivity level, and art style based on the closest examples in this showcase.
